Sean “Diddy” Combs sued for alleged rape in 2001

Sean “Diddy” Combs sued for alleged rape in 2001

Thalia Graves gave a tearful press conference in Los Angeles and said the emotional and mental pain of the 2001 attack was still with her.

Combs, 54, was indicted last week on three counts of sexually assaulting women and using threats and violence to force them to attend drug-fueled sex parties.

A flood of individual lawsuits last year, including Graves’, painted a picture of a serial offender and led to the hip-hop star falling massively out of favor.

“It goes beyond the physical damage caused by and during the attack. It is a pain that goes to the core of your personality and leaves emotional scars that will never fully heal,” she told reporters.

“I suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. I am emotionally scarred. I find it difficult to trust others, build healthy relationships or feel safe in my own skin.

“Flashbacks, nightmares and obsessions make me feel like it’s a constant struggle.”

In the criminal case, Combs is accused of conspiracy to commit organized crime, sex trafficking and transporting victims across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.

According to prosecutors, Combs was the mastermind of a criminal organization that lured women into a trap and forced them to perform sexual acts under threat of violence, financial insecurity and damage to their reputation.

The allegations against Combs have been mounting since last year, when singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, claimed that Combs subjected her to physical violence and drugs for over a decade, as well as a rape in 2018.

In a flood of similarly sensational lawsuits, Combs has since been described as a violent man who abused his fame to exploit women.

Combs has pleaded not guilty. He is in custody.

Graves’ attorney, Gloria Allred, said her client’s allegations are not part of the charges.

Graves’ lawsuit, filed in the Southern District of New York, says she met the rapper through her then-boyfriend, who worked at Combs’ Bad Boy Records.

It describes how Combs took her to his studio and gave her a glass of wine on the way that she believes was laced with drugs. She says she lost consciousness shortly after arriving.

When she woke up, she was naked and bound. But when she called for help, Combs’ colleague Joseph Sherman slammed her head on a pool table.

She was then raped by Combs and Sherman and lost consciousness again.

The lawsuit states that in the years that followed, the two men repeatedly warned her not to talk about the alleged assault.

After Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie Venture went public with allegations of his criminal behavior last year, Graves discovered that her assault had been recorded and sold as pornography.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages as well as other costs and fees.
