A driver was shot in a furious traffic accident on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County, according to the FHP

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A man driving a Tesla along the Florida Turnpike in Orange County was shot in a road rage incident Thursday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes at mile marker 251, near the exits for State Road 417 and Hunter’s Creek, the FHP said in a statement.

A gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback was involved in an incident with the victim on the road at the time of the shooting, after which two bullet holes were discovered in the driver’s side door of the Tesla, the statement said.

The victim, who police described as only 33 years old, reportedly noticed the damage to his vehicle before realizing he had been shot in the leg. According to the statement, he has since been admitted to the hospital.

Further information about the Volkswagen or its driver was not immediately available.
