Fatal shootings of Joshua McLean and Bethnal Green: Three people charged

Joshua McLean, 31, was killed on August 6 after he was fatally shot at Weavers Field, Wilmot Street, in Bethnal Green.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Special Crime Squad arrested eight men aged between 17 and 56 on suspicion of murder on Wednesday (September 25).

Now three of them have been named because they have been accused of murder.

They include Nefur Miah, 36, of Redmans Road in Stepney Green, Ismail Ali, 37, of Marlborough Road in Romford and Simeon Oliver-Stewart of Clevedon Close in Stoke Newington.

They are all due to appear at Thames Magistrates Court today (September 27).

The remaining five arrested were released on bail.

Joshua was found with fatal injuries and received first aid at the scene before his death.

Det Insp Jonny Newell said: “Our thoughts remain with Joshua’s family who are completely devastated by this tragic incident.

“I am grateful to those who spoke to officers and provided information that helped with our investigation, but would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of this incident to contact police “If this hasn’t happened yet.” I’ve already done it.
