Legionnaire in the Talk – Vorsager’s good start at IK Start

Willi Vorsager took a bold step: In the summer, the 27-year-old surprisingly moved to IK Start in the second Norwegian league. The long-time Admiran left his homeland to learn a completely new football culture. “When I came here it was very exciting and new.” But after two months I can say that it’s really cool so far. “The city, which is right by the sea, is also nice to live in,” the Traiskirchen resident gives insights into the environment in the city of Kristiansand, which has around 115,000 inhabitants.

After leaving the southern city, Vorsager attended the VdF camp as an unaffiliated player before the opportunity to move to Norway arose. “I was open to something new.” “Being able to live here and play football is a great opportunity,” says Vorsager’s working paper, but only until the end of the year.

Vorsager not only enjoys the sporting environment, but also the quality of life in Norway.

For the colder climes, Vorsager also received a suitable debut gift from a “club soma”. Because she knits socks for every new player. “I was really happy about it.”

“The level is pretty similar”

However, starting at the start was not entirely friction-free. Above all, the midfielder first had to overcome the language barrier. He’s lucky that English is spoken a lot. “I was overwhelmed at the beginning, but now it’s working well,” laughed Vorsager, who has played seven games so far, starting six of them. In the table, Start is in twelfth place in the 16-team league.

How does the Norwegian second league compare to the second league in Austria? “It’s pretty similar. At the start we have a great infrastructure, a stadium for 14,000 visitors, but there are also clubs where there is only one stand. The level is very good, but a lot physical. Because we play a lot on artificial turf, it is also technically very appealing,” compares Vorsager.
