Self-proclaimed music manager Nota Baloyi came to X (Twitter) with disturbing news and said serious criminal charges have been filed against him.

Why Nota is being prosecuted

Nota Baloyi recently announced on social media that he had been accused of serious crimes. In a now-deleted post, he said police had brought him in for questioning.

Nota said he and his family discussed the possibility of handing himself over to the police station. However, he refrained from revealing too many details about the charges against him and deleted his post.

“I have just received the worst news of my life… The police have asked me to come in for questioning about a serious criminal offense against me. I just got off the phone with my lawyers, and now I’m on the phone with my parents discussing turning myself over to the authorities. Please send prayers!”

Are the fees related to Mayibabo royalties?

Nota posted this shortly after music producer Makwa accused him of exploitation Mayibabo Royalties.

The trigger for this was the allegations made by former people Rhythm City Actress Itu Bokaba, who revealed that she sang on the hit song and was only paid R0.59 by the South African Music Rights Organization (SAMRO).

It turned out that when asked, Nota told her that the money had been donated to DJ Maphorisa. Makwa went to X and told Nota to respond: “Maphorisa is not responsible for this mess. Nota is it. He did the balancing act behind our backs.”

He further attacked Nota, saying: “You cannot create divisions behind our backs and tell us to fix the problem ourselves. They were shady from day one. @lavidaNOTA, you told me to get rid of my publisher because you didn’t want me to.” I need to find out you’re a scammer.
