Maryland stabbing suspect in custody

EDGEWATER, Md. — A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman in Edgewater last month, according to Anne Arundel County police.

James Strachan Houston, 58, of Edgewater, was arrested Friday morning in connection with the August 9, 2024 stabbing of 47-year-old Nancianne S. Houston. Authorities said both people were known to each other and were involved in an argument when the incident occurred at an apartment on South River S.

Officers had been on scene around 5:00 p.m. on the day of the stabbing and found both Nancianne Houston and James Houston with apparent stab wounds. Nancianne Houston was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters, while James Houston was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland with life-threatening injuries.
