NotebookLM: Google's new AI platform now also supports YouTube videos and audio files

Google is with you NotebookLM A few months ago, a very interesting platform was launched that enables AI-supported evaluation of document collections. A major update is now being rolled out, which, in addition to the podcast function already announced here in the blog, also brings two new data sources. Users can now also upload YouTube videos and audio files as sources.

NotebookLM is a very practical tool for quickly managing and evaluating document collections, which we presented to you in detail just a few days ago. You simply upload as many documents as you want and the underlying Gemini AI will evaluate them, draw connections and can answer questions about the content after just a few seconds, some of which create proven facts by linking information.

Now the circle of data sources is being expanded to include two additional media that underline Gemini’s multimodal strengths: Users can now also add YouTube videos as a source by specifying the URL or, if necessary, upload one or more audio files with information. In both cases, the sources are analyzed and included in the collection as information. The information contained in the video can be used in the same way as the information in the audio file.

Since Google highlighted Gemini’s extensive multimodal strengths well over six months ago, this integration was only a matter of time. Just this week, “Ask YouTube” was also announced, which can evaluate individual videos and answer questions about the content. It is probably the same technology used.
