DJ Evolve – Why I Forgave Babu Owino, Life After The Shooting Incident

DJ Evolve – Why I Forgave Babu Owino, Life After The Shooting Incident

A year ago (2023), Embakasi East MP Babu Owino aka Paul Ongili told a Nairobi court that he spent Sh58.6 million to clear the medical bills and maintenance of DJ Evolve aka Felix Orinda.

Babu said he had taken responsibility for Elvove and said it was a sign of his moral obligation as a leader.

He defended himself on Thursday after the court found that he faces charges of misuse of a firearm used to shoot DJ Evolve at the B Club in 2020.

“I took over Felix Orinda’s life-saving initiatives and efforts as a leader. And that would be inconsistent with a person who wanted to cause harm,Owino told the court.

Owino told Milimani Chief Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that Evolve could have died if he had not taken the initiative.

“The total bills came to Sh23 million as DJ Evolve was in intensive care. He was immobile and unable to move. I bought an apartment in Kilimani for around Sh17 million and hired two nurses, 2 physiotherapists and an occupational therapist who currently pay Sh300. 000 per month.

“I paid Sh11.1 million and it is still running for 37 months. I take care of his maintenance of Sh70,000 per month to pay bills and food. For medicines, it is Sh80,000 per month, totaling Sh5.5 million for 37 months,” he said.

“The last operation, which cost Sh2 million and made him speak, was carried out in Nairobi. So far I have spent Sh58.6 million on Evolve.”

He said he plans to buy a motor vehicle and help set up a DJ school for him.
