Nintendo will unveil its new console by the end of March 2025 at the latest.

When will Nintendo finally reveal the next console and when will it be launched? There are a lot of rumors about the system, which is presumably called Switch 2, but still no official information. Nintendo continues to remain silent, but representatives from other companies comment on the new console.

One of them is Rubén Mercado. He is the managing director of the accessories manufacturer Blade, which produces gaming peripherals for all current consoles and PCs – including the Switch.

Now he spoke in a podcast on the Spanish website Vandal about, among other things, Nintendo’s new console. And had interesting things to say (above nintendolife.com).

It’s time for the Switch 2: How realistic are the rumors?

Reportedly expected to be released in spring 2025

Mercado spoke of the Switch 2 being “finished” and basically ready to be delivered. His company already has access to quickly ready versions of the device. He himself therefore assumes one Release in March or April 2025 said the Blade CEO.

He also went into specific hardware details in the interview. When asked about the presumably magnetic Joy-Con, Mercado said that they had some kind of locking mechanism and that the analog sticks were also different than on the first Switch – peripherals for these would definitely no longer fit in the new system.

How believable is that? There have been many correct leaks about new consoles from the accessory manufacturer sector in the past. Since Mercado didn’t necessarily promise a release in spring 2025, there could definitely be something in his statements.

Because: Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced in May that he would make an announcement about the successor to the Nintendo Switch 2 “this fiscal year”. That runs until March 31, 2025. A release next spring doesn’t seem entirely unlikely either.

We’ll be smarter in six months at the latest

There are currently a noticeable number of rumors and leaks about the new Nintendo console. Pictures of a Switch 2 prototype recently emerged from a Chinese factory, which already allowed conclusions to be drawn about the size of the system.

As always, you should of course be careful with all rumors, because that’s exactly what they are. If Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa keeps his word, we’ll all be smarter in six months at the latest.

How realistic do you think a Switch 2 release will be in March or April 2025?
