Holger Rune meets Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals in Tokyo.

The match went smoothly for Holger Rune. The Dane was able to take two service games from his opponent Yoshihito Nishioka in the first set and rewarded himself with a quick set lead. This also did not change the support of the Japanese audience for the local hero.

Holger Rune was very focused on his own serve and gave his opponent, who is currently ranked 59th in the world, no chance of a break point. With another early break in the second round, the 21-year-old showed a short phase of weakness and allowed Nishikoa back into the match. But the Japanese couldn’t withstand the subsequent pressure and had the serve taken away again.
