Teenager killed in shooting in Salisbury: SPD launches murder investigation

SALISBURY — A teenager was killed in a shooting in Salisbury on Friday. The murder is being investigated by Salisbury Police.

According to a news release from Maj. Justin Crews, the department’s public information officer, officers responded to the 300 block of North Fulton Street in reference to a shooting around 7:35 p.m.

Arriving officers reportedly found a 14-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.

“First responders arrived quickly and transported the man to Novant (Health Rowan Medical Center) with life-threatening injuries,” Crews said in the release. “The man sadly succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at hospital.”

Investigators reportedly determined the victim was walking in the 500 block of North Ellis Street when he was shot. It was not specified whether it was a shooter or a group.

The victim was able to walk to the 300 block of North Fulton Street before collapsing.

At this time no one has been arrested in connection with this incident.

The Salisbury Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating the incident.

“Due to the nature of this investigation, no further information will be released at this time,” Crews said in the release, adding that “Salisbury Police would like to extend our prayers to the victim’s family.”
