Holmes is preparing for a rescheduled Monday night football game with Chipley

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Monday night football, not the NFL, is all about high school football in the county of Florida. After Hurricane Helene caused many regional soccer teams to postpone their games, those teams are now looking at a very different schedule. One of those teams is the Holmes Blue Devils, who are 4-1 this season with wins over Bozeman, Port St. Joe, Rutherford and Northview. That one loss to a good Walton Braves team.

On Saturday, coach Kevin Womble spoke with WJHG about how different it is playing on a Monday night and how that has affected their practice schedule.

“Yeah, we just look at it, we look at it as adversity or opportunity. We’ll take some of the things we did Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, maybe we wanted to clean up, and get an extra opportunity to work on those things. So the message is simply: Yes, this is different. But that doesn’t mean it has to be harmful. It doesn’t mean you know that we just have to go completely off track. “We just show up, we work, we do what we have to do and then hopefully, like I said, it shows up on the field on Monday night,” Coach Womble said.

Unlike other teams, coach Womble’s team will not play two games in one week, which he said is a great blessing for his Blue Devils.

Undoubtedly, Monday night’s game between Holmes and Chipley will be a game to watch. The Blue Devils defeated the Tigers in both meetings last season, but Chipley has owned the series since 2014, leading nine games to four. The game is scheduled for Monday at 7:00 p.m. in Chipley.
