Skoda Kodiaq: Simply huge

Skoda Kodiaq: Simply huge

Simply reducing the new Skoda Kodiaq to its size would do it an injustice. And we don’t do that either…..we don’t…..we don’t either. Yes, okay, we exaggerated, of course you don’t hear any echo when you scream into the trunk, which has a capacity of up to 2,105 liters. In addition, we were more impressed by the 910 liters with the back seat up anyway. The Skoda saves you the agony of choosing when it comes to transport, everything that is still mentally within the scope of a car fits easily into the Czech. However, the number of original excuses as to why this one suitcase isn’t allowed on vacation is manageable.

In general, everything in the Kodiaq is of an impressive size. The number of shelves, the size of the new touchscreen, the rotary controls called “Smart Dials” and of course the wide range “Simply Clever” ideas. That’s how the Kodiaq has always been, close to people, garnished with creative approaches for a relaxed everyday life. What is relatively new, however, is the air of nobility that surrounds it. Let’s put it this way, the story of the cheaper VW brother has long since been told.

Rather, the Skoda impresses with its elegant and self-confident appearance. This is what winners look like, the predecessor was like that and the new one will be like that too. Accordingly, an evolutionary approach was chosen for the design. It won’t take your breath away when you first see it, but what’s most impressive is the striking rear with its elaborate light signature and the optional features 20 inch rims.

The interior has more eye-openers. Of course, the 13-inch, prominently placed touchscreen immediately catches the eye. But only to be immediately replaced by the center console, which is brimming with storage. All that was required was to move the transmission selector lever to the steering column. “Small cause, big effect” you could say, the fact that there is additional storage space above the glove compartment rounds off the storage paradise.

The “Smart Dials”, programmable dials in a size that we no longer dared to hope for, are also casual. They outshine the touchscreen, although it also impresses with its clearer structure. We also found it cool to be able to deactivate annoying things like the speed warning using a small rotating roller on the steering wheel. What was unusual, if anything, was the windshield wiper control integrated into the turn signal lever.

The drive of our test car may also seem unusual. Because diesel and because it’s supposedly no longer up to date. 193 hp, 440 Newton meters and 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers speak a different language. The 2.0 liter turbodiesel is the ideal engine for the large SUV. Acoustically, it holds back, impresses with its casual approach and strong pull under the aegis of the 7-speed automatic. The chassis also appears confident; traction is always present thanks to all-wheel drive.

Lots of cars too. But also for a lot of money? Nope. The Skoda Kodiaq starts as a TDI 4×4 58,390.00 EUR. But it’s better to expect more because it’s difficult to ignore packages like “Simply Clever”, “Comfort” or “Light & Sight”.

.

Really casual: We found it, the egg-laying woolly milk Skoda.

Really stressful: The fact that you can end up with around 70,000.00 EUR for the top model.

Really bold: Could be five adults and their luggage.

It’s a real shame that we don’t have enough space to list all the “Simply Clever” ideas.
