Beautiful and atmospheric concert by the Wiesnwirte 2024

On the second Sunday of the Oktoberfest at 11 a.m. sharp, the bands in the large Oktoberfest tents opened the traditional musical highlight of the Oktoberfest. The 300 musicians provide goosebumps in front of the wonderful Bavarian backdrop. After the welcome by moderator Dominik Göbl from Bayerischer Rundfunk, the spokesman for the Große Wiesnwirte, Peter Inselkammer, spoke to the numerous people present. Afterwards, Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner was awarded the Wiesn innkeepers badge of honor before he conducted his last march in this context in his role as economics officer. Like all other conductors, he also received the Wiesnwirte’s annual mug from the Munich child Franziska Inselkammer.

Teufelsrad owner Elisabeth Polaczy conducted the next march. Afterwards, the traditional costume club from Prien am Chiemsee was able to demonstrate its skills. The former chairman of the Munich Brewers Association, Andreas Steinfatt, also had his appearance as a conductor, followed by a performance by the alphorn players from the Allgäu-Swabian Music Association.

One of the highlights of this year’s concert was the last joint appearance of the hit duo Marianne and Michael Hartl, who performed a medley of their most famous songs. They were musically accompanied by Wolfgang Grünbauer and his Oktoberfest musicians.

Other program items included Ewald Metzger’s solo on the tuba and the presentation of the Wiesnwirte’s honorary award to Gernot Raab, headmaster of the city’s vocational school for the hotel, restaurant and brewing industry. Oktoberfest city councilor Anja Berger and KVR speaker Hanna Sammüller-Gradl also had the honor of conducting the largest open-air Oktoberfest band in the world this year.

Mayor Dieter Reiter was the last conductor of this special open-air concert at the feet of Bavaria.
