Battle in the North: Manchester City draw against Newcastle United, reaction and tweets

An entertaining result and the return of Jack Grealish highlighted this weekend’s entertaining Prem game as Manchester City held Newcastle 1-1.

A game that featured a controversial penalty, Gvardiol playing second striker and more, it was certainly entertaining. The result means City remain at the top and can continue to compete.

Now for the reaction-

Pep Guardiola’s reaction

“After the goal they scored they had five or ten minutes, but it’s always like that at St James’ Park.

“In general we played really well. When the score was 0-1 we made poor decisions, otherwise we could have made it 0-2.

“It was difficult because of their physicality, because they defend so deep.

“That has happened lately but we had the chances and Pope was brilliant but we get a point.”

“The game against Inter was the same, Phil is perhaps one of the best in this position, he is so clever,” said the City boss.

“Last season he was the best player in the league, he was out, but today he played the best minutes. I would say he was really good and dynamic and step by step I’m happy for him to come back.”

“It took a long time for him to get out,” Guardiola added.

“I sometimes prefer that a player has an hour and 90 minutes in three days and we have another and then another three days.

“There are games for everyone.”

“[Rico Is a player we don’t have to talk much about as he is so smart and intelligent,” said Guardiola.

“Football is a movement game – how you decide on the actions, it depends on the intelligence of the players.

“Rico reads perfectly what he needs to do.

“Of course, he is young, and he will improve – he is only 19.

“He played exceptionally well [today]. He’s a really good player in small spaces. He played a really good game.”
