As of Monday, there will be another Swiss in the top 100 in the tennis world rankings thanks to Alexander Ritschard (ATP 121). The Zurich native won the final of the Challenger tournament in Lisbon with 6:3, 6:7 (3:7), 6:3 against Raphaël Collignon (BEL/ATP 191). The 30-year-old, who competed for the USA from 2018 to 2022, had the upper hand in the deciding set three times during the tournament in the Portuguese capital.

14th Swiss in the top 100

Thanks to his third title at Challenger level this season – and fourth overall – the right-hander is ranked 99th among the top 100 tennis players in the world for the first time in his career as of Monday. This makes him the 14th Swiss to reach this milestone. He also puts himself in an excellent position to be in a Grand Slam main draw for the first time without qualifying at the Australian Open in January.
