id.gov.gr: The appointment platform for new identities is now online – Check out the detailed steps

As of today, Monday, 8:30 a.m., the new platform id.gov.gr is ready for operation.

Citizens can easily and user-friendly make digital appointments for the issuance of a new type of ID card or for its replacement due to changes in personal data, expiration, wear or age.

This new, modern platform will increase the number of appointments and thus shorten the waiting time for citizens’ requests to be fulfilled, as digital appointments will be possible from tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st. This draft was implemented as part of the collaboration between the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, and the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis.

The id.gov.gr platform ensures that there is a time gap between appointments of people to the same ID card authority, sufficient to complete one appointment before the next one begins.

Additionally, the hours and days of available appointments may vary depending on time intervals and job openings, taking into account scheduling constraints and the availability of the issuing agency.

The process for making an appointment is as follows:

  • The citizen selects an issuing authority based on their permanent or temporary residential address in Greece and a specific day and time from the personal service availability list. Your data will be automatically retrieved from the Citizens’ Register and the National Communications Register (EMEp). If the citizen’s information is not updated in the EMEp, he or she must either update it on the spot or complete it as specified.
  • Once the application has been submitted, the citizen will receive an email with basic information on how to process the appointment as well as the contact details of the selected issuing authority.
  • The appointment request may be rescheduled, canceled or resubmitted no later than one (1) hour before the start of the agreed appointment.
  • At different intervals before the start of the agreed appointment, the interested party will receive a reminder message from the platform to the email address they provided.

It is important to note that in the event of loss or theft of the identity card, the citizen must contact by telephone the relevant issuing authority based on his permanent or temporary residence in Greece and make an appointment for the issuance of a new identity card.
