Laundry Lens 2.0: Laundry symbol scanner completely overhauled › iphone-ticker.de

The free iPhone application “Laundry Lens” is available in version 2.0 with a handful of improvements in the App Store, but is still available for free download. Developed by Alan Pegoli, the app allows users to scan fabric care symbols on labels and explain their meaning. The application automatically recognizes all internationally standardized symbols and provides detailed information about their meaning. The updated design of the app should make it even easier to use in the future.

According to the developer, Laundry Lens now works even faster and more accurately when scanning laundry symbols. The app is based on a revised indexing, which should enable more precise recognition of the symbols. Language support has also been expanded: In addition to German, Catalan, Danish, Finnish, Italian, Romanian and Turkish are now also available, making the app accessible to an even wider international user base.

The app itself has been available in the App Store since summer 2020 and has offered a German user interface since version 1.0.5. However, the latest version not only brings improved language selection and optimized results, but also presents itself in a slimmer design. As in previous versions, the core function is retained: Users point the iPhone or iPad’s camera at a care label and the app analyzes the symbols. The recognized characters are then shown on the display with corresponding explanations.

In addition to the scan function, “Laundry Lens” contains an extensive symbol archive that makes it possible to search specifically for specific symbols. This is particularly helpful when there is no label at hand but a specific meaning needs to be looked up. In total, the database includes over 70 different symbols based on international standards such as ISO 3758:2012. However, the app notes that different symbols may be used in some countries, such as the USA and South Korea.
