As background: the information fair is intended to make it easier for parents to choose a school

For many parents, it is one of the most difficult decisions in parenting: choosing a school. At least there are some offers in the district. To make the choice easier, Alsergrund organized an information fair.

VIENNA/ALSERGRUND. The school year has just begun. But many people don’t even know how much lead time it takes. Many parents register their children at the institution of their choice a good year before they start. However, the selection can often be very difficult. For this reason, the educational district “Am Alserbach” and the district administration are organizing a school information fair. This will take place on Thursday, October 3rd, in the district council (Währinger Straße 43).

The event is aimed at everyone whose children will be ready for school in 2025 or 2026. For one afternoon, the educational institutions in the 8th district introduce themselves and find out more about what they have to offer. “I know from my own experience that the start of school brings with it some challenges for both the children and their guardians,” explains district leader Saya Ahmad (SPÖ).

Foundation for a good life

“Education is the basis for a self-determined and good life,” states the district boss. It is therefore very important to her that all children have access to the best education – “regardless of the origin or income of the guardians”. The fair takes place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the ballroom on the 2nd floor. The official opening with Ahmad is at 3:15 p.m.

In addition to the exhibiting schools, lectures by the Education Directorate on the subject of school readiness, school enrollment and allocation will be offered in the meeting room on the first floor at 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Participation is free.
