Changan is coming: European market launch in 2024

With Changan, China’s fourth largest car manufacturer is also aiming for the European market. The Chinese want to initially focus on electric models, but later also introduce hybrid and plug-in hybrid models into the old world.

Changan is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2024 with the electric SUV Deepal S07, which will mark the market launch in Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. To this end, Changan registered its subsidiaries in Germany and the Netherlands in September. At the beginning of 2025, the automobile manufacturer plans to expand its presence in Switzerland, Sweden and Finland.

Changan

The Deepal S07 electric SUV will be Changan’s first model in Europe.

In addition, Changan intends to enter the UK market through subsidiaries in July 2025. Market entries in Spain and Italy are planned for 2026. The Chinese want to be represented in all important European markets as early as 2028.

To build a sales and service network, Changan will work with local trading partners. The Chinese had already founded their own design center in Turin in 2003 in order to be able to tailor their European models to European tastes.
