An 18-year-old Oak Lawn man is killed and another 18-year-old is injured in a shooting near Illinois State University

One person was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting early Sunday near Illinois State University in Normal.

The victims have no connection to the university, police said.

According to the Normal Police Department, officers were breaking up a “large party” in the 300 block of North Main Street around 3:45 a.m. Sunday when they heard gunshots.

Officers then went to the 300 block of North University, where they found gunshot victim Randall E. Glass, 18, of Oak Lawn, and another 18-year-old male, police said.

Glass was taken to an area hospital where he died of multiple gunshot wounds, officials said. His death was ruled a homicide.

The other man was also hospitalized in critical condition.
