🎙️ Jonas Meffert unpacks: Shortly before a move to Tim Walter?

Jonas Meffert is in his fourth season at Hamburger SV and, as an experienced player, is one of the important pillars in the Hanseatic team’s squad. The 30-year-old, who came to the Elbe from Kiel in the summer of 2021, has already played 116 competitive games for the Rothosen. Of course, more will follow. He has now revealed this in an interview with “NDR”.

In the summer, Meffert was linked with a move to Hull City. Tim Walter is the coach there and would have liked to guide his favorite player from Kiel and Hamburg to England. “I have definitely looked into the topic. There were a lot of things that spoke in favor of trying it out.”

“But there were also enough things that kept me here in Hamburg and I am very, very happy that I am playing for HSV,” Meffert said openly. His contract with HSV still runs for two years and he wouldn’t mind if he stayed in Hamburg a little longer, he said on NDR.

Looking ahead to this season, the German is optimistic that HSV can achieve promotion. “I’ve been here for three years now and we’ve never had such a high level of quality, and you can see that in training. We should see that as a major advantage. A season like this is long and we can really use every player,” said Meffert.
