Bills WR injured after setting NFL record

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir set an NFL record with his first catch against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.

He was injured on his second catch.

Shakir threw an 8-yard pass over the middle and was tripped by Roquan Smith and David Ojabo in the first quarter. Shakir stood up but sat back on the field and was assessed by athletic trainers.

Shakir slowly left the field and was looked at by the coaches on the bench. He had his right ankle bandaged and jogged on the sidelines in sneakers.

Shakir returned to the game at the start of the second quarter.

Early in the first quarter, Shakir caught the first pass Josh Allen threw to him. The reception gave him a run of 28 consecutive catches from last year, surpassing Michael Thomas’ streak of 27 in 2018, which is the longest such streak in the NFL since the stat was recorded in 1991.
