The beans left behind by the Turks aroused great interest among the population, and the first coffee house opened two years later. At the beginning of the 19th century there were already almost 90 coffee houses, at the turn of the 20th century there were 1,200 and today there are 1,700. This includes 800 coffee houses, 500 coffee restaurants and 400 espresso, stand-up cafés or coffee pastry shops.
