Flight disruptions at Chennai International Airport due to the Indian Air Force Day Air Show

Chennai news: Travelers using Chennai International Airport (MAA) can expect regular flight disruptions and airspace closures from October 1 to 8 in preparation for the Indian Air Force Day celebrations. The disruptions are related to the 92nd Anniversary Air Show, which will host flying demonstrations in Marina Beach on October 6.

Airspace closures will occur at intervals of 15 minutes to two hours at the following times: October 1st: 1:45 p.m. – 3:15 p.m., October 2nd: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., October 3rd: 10:45 a.m. – 11 a.m :00, Oct. 4th: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Oct. 5th: 10:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., Oct. 6th: 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Oct October 7th: 10:45am – 11:00am and October 8th: 10:45am – 11:00am.

These closures may result in flight delays that may continue after normal operations resume as airlines work to manage backlogs. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for updates and plan for possible disruptions during this period.

In a tweet, Chennai Airport said: “To minimize disruption, the airport has released a detailed schedule of these closures at various intervals ranging from 15 minutes to two hours.” We encourage passengers to stay updated by checking flight schedules and communicating with their airlines for the latest information.”
