TikTok and WHO join forces to educate the public with science-based health information

TikTok and WHO join forces to educate the public with science-based health information

TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms.

According to a World Health Organization report, the social media platform has over a billion users. The World Health Organization, on the other hand, is a trusted source of health information.

The organization and social media platform have worked together to ensure more people have access to reliable health information.

A press release posted on the WHO website said the two worked together on the new initiative starting September 26.

The collaboration is a result of the increasing misinformation circulating on social media.

“This collaboration may prove to be a game-changer in how platforms can become more socially responsible. The intersection of health and technology offers the opportunity to reach people of all ages, where they are, when they want to access it,” said Dr. Jeremy Farrar, WHO chief scientist.

“By collaborating with TikTok and others, we are helping people access credible information and engage in scientific discourse that together helps shape a healthier future for all,” added Dr. Farrar added.

“We know that millions of people come to TikTok every day to connect and find community in all areas of their lives, including their well-being, and we are committed to ensuring they find reliable information on this important topic. That’s why we’re here today.” We’re excited to partner with the World Health Organization’s Fides network of health influencers to further strengthen this commitment by providing engaging and authoritative content on mental wellness to our community,” says Valiant Richey, Global Head of Trust and Safety Outreach and Partnerships, TikTok.
