That’s why this app can no longer exist

YouTube is unlikely to make any friends with the current decision. Ultimately, the video portal is responsible for the fact that the app for the Apple Vision Pro, which specifically plays YouTube videos, is now disappearing. Users of the expensive data glasses now only have one solution.

Apple Vision Pro loses unofficial YouTube app

Apple’s data glasses don’t have it easy, weak sales and a meager software offering cloud the mixed reality experience – and what’s more: YouTube itself does not yet offer an app for the Apple Vision Pro. According to YouTube’s wishes, the iPad app is also not allowed to run on the headset. In times of need, Christian Selig developed “Juno” – an unofficial YouTube viewer that successfully addressed the problem.

It is now being removed from the App Store (source: MacRumors). Apple removes the app and users are left behind. YouTube complained back in April and contacted Selig. The “Juno” app would violate YouTube’s terms of service. This also affects YouTube’s APIs, as the app would modify the native YouTube.com web interface and use YouTube brands and icons. Selig then adapted the app and switched to the web viewer, which no longer uses YouTube APIs.

Apparently this wasn’t enough for YouTube, and the video portal filed a complaint with the App Store. As a result, Apple now took action and removed the app. The developer does not agree with this decision, but ultimately does not want to challenge it. After all, according to self-report, “Juno” was just a fun hobby project.

If you haven’t already bought “Juno”, there is only one solution

The good news: Anyone who bought and installed the app for $4.99 or €5.99 before it was kicked out can still use it at the moment. However, potential new customers are left empty-handed.

So there is only one solution for YouTube videos on the Apple Vision Pro. This can be found in Apple’s web browser “Safari”. So if you want to watch videos from YouTube on Apple’s data glasses, you can only rely on the browser and the interface that YouTube has not adapted for the Apple Vision Pro. All very unfortunate.

This app is no longer available for the Apple Vision Pro:
