Aston Villa defeated Bayern Munich 1-0 in the second round of the Champions League at Villa Park on Wednesday evening in a classic underdog performance.

The away team dominated early possession at a raucous Villa Park, but Villa held them off for a long time before Pau Torres popped up with a goal offside following chaos in the Bayern penalty area.

This try livened up the game, both sides went close, Bayern stayed on top and Michael Olise forced a brilliant save from Emi Martinez.

The second half was a similar story, with the away team dominating possession but neither team able to force clear chances.

That was until the 79thTh minute when substitute Jhon Duran caught a perfect pass and caught Neuer with a stunning lob over the German.

And Villa worked hard in the final 10 minutes to put an end to the German giants and ensure one of Villa Park’s most famous nights.

Villa and Bayern have only met once before – in the famous 1982 final in Rotterdam.
