Anniversary celebration: Steyr 1 vocational school celebrates 50 years of existence

The Steyr 1 vocational school is celebrating its 50th anniversary and looks back on a successful history in dual training.

STEYR. Since 1974, the school has been training apprentices in a variety of technical professions, including automotive technology, plastics technology, plastics process engineering, metal technology – tool making technology, metal technology – machining technology and ski construction technology. What is particularly pleasing is that it is only today that an additional apprenticeship can be learned, namely the apprenticeship in fiber composite technology.

“This school has stood for high-quality and future-oriented education in Upper Austria for half a century. Thanks to the close connection between practice and the latest technology, the skilled workers of tomorrow are trained here. “My thanks go to the committed school management and the teachers, whose commitment contributes significantly to offering our young people the best opportunities for the future,” emphasizes LH Deputy Education Officer Christine Haberlander.

Pioneer of technical training in the region

The long-standing cooperation with industry as well as the combination of theory and practice make the Steyr 1 vocational school a pioneer of technical training in the region. Representing LH Deputy Christine Haberlander, LAbg. Regina Aspalter delivered the greetings. She emphasizes:

“Whether you look at the diverse dual training, the dual academy or the international exchange – the Steyr 1 vocational school proves its commitment and openness on many levels.” Especially in workshops and laboratories it becomes clear that schools must remain adaptable – many companies We cooperate and provide great support here so that the vocational school is always up to date with the latest technology. “The Steyr 1 vocational school looks back on 50 successful years of technical training.” It is very important to us to offer our apprentices modern and practical training that optimally prepares them for their professional future. “My special thanks go to the state of Upper Austria for their many years of support, which will enable us to continue to act as a strong educational institution in the region in the future,” emphasizes Harald Ebenhofer, director of the Steyr 1 vocational school.

Positive teaching and learning culture

The Steyr 1 vocational school aims to create a positive teaching and learning culture that is based on high pedagogical standards. Lifelong learning is an integral part of school life, and the focus is on the individual support of all apprentices. In particular, cooperation with training companies is strengthened through teaching projects in order to actively shape dual training. Particular attention is paid to acquiring professional and social skills, which form the basis of a successful career.

Synergies for future projects

As part of the 50th anniversary, a delegation from the Fernando III Secondary School from Andalusia, Spain, was also a guest. The school in Martos has had an Erasmus partnership with the Steyr 1 vocational school since 2017. The Spanish experts in metal and plastics technology, including director Manuel Caballero Águila and several specialist teachers, use the visit to exchange experiences and job shadowing. Together with their Austrian colleagues, they are exploring synergies for future projects in order to deepen the collaboration in the long term.
