Muscle injury: BVB star Adeyemi is out longer

Karim Adeyemi was “in the flow,” as Sebastian Kehl says. Now he has to take a break.

Dortmund – Borussia Dortmund will be without Karim Adeyemi for a month and a half. The national striker suffered a muscle injury during his three-goal gala in the Champions League against Celtic Glasgow (7-1) on Tuesday. Coach Nuri Sahin doesn’t expect the 22-year-old to return until “after the international break in November,” he said on Friday. Dortmund will play in the Bundesliga on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) at Union Berlin.

Adeyemi had played really well in BVB’s biggest ever win in the premier class: he scored three goals and also forced a penalty before grabbing his right thigh in the 48th minute with his face distorted in pain. The 22-year-old had to be substituted to a standing ovation.

The start of the season was brilliant for Adeyemi. He collected ten scorer points in the first eight competitive games for BVB, and he also scored five times in two games for the German U21 national team.
