Last summer the Norwegian “Tons of Rock” celebrated its tenth birthday. Now the festival organizer is announcing the first acts for the next event in June 2025. Among others, Powerwolf and Electric Callboy will be there in Oslo.

After a successful tenth anniversary this year, the Norwegian rock and metal festival Tons of Rock is already casting its first shadow for 2025. From June 25th to 28th there will be dozens of acts from all over the world on several stages, and the first ten have now been published alongside the start of ticket sales.

The men from Green Day were the first big headliner. The American punk rock band, which has been shaping the genre since the 1990s, will perform on June 26th and will certainly play hits like “Basket Case” and “American Idiot”.

The metalcore band Jinjer around front woman Tatiana Shmailyuk comes from Ukraine. Lorna Shore’s deathcore colleagues from New Jersey in the USA. Alestorm is coming from Scotland and Kim Dracula is coming from Australia. The black metal musicians Emperor and Old Man’s Child, both of whom come from Norway, are not quite as far along – as is the punk rock band The Good, The Bad & The Zugly. Two German acts are also already safe: the Saarbrücken power metallers Powerwolf, who landed at number one in the highest album charts this year with their long player “Wake Up The Wicked”, and the hall-filling social media phenomenon Electric Callboy.

A big fan wish fulfilled by Green Day

Jarle Kvåle, the festival’s booking manager, is excited about the first wave of bands: “We are extremely proud to be able to announce such a wild and massive first wave of bands for Tons of Rock 2025. Green Day are an absolute dream booking,” which has been at the top of our audience’s wish list for years.

In recent years, the festival has developed into one of the top addresses for rock and metal fans. It originally took place in Halden, southeastern Norway, before moving to Oslo in 2019 to expand. The festival has now welcomed global stars such as Iron Maiden, Kiss, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica. In 2024, Judas Priest, Metallica, Tool, ZZ Top, Extreme, Turnstile and Parkway Drive were among those on site.

Tickets are available now. Further information about the festival and its acts is also available on the website. If you would like to get an impression of the event in advance, you can simply watch the aftermovie from this summer, which is also now available.
