The Menendez brothers are not monsters!

The Menendez brothers are not monsters!

Kim Kardashian thinks it’s wrong to call the Menendez brothers “monsters.”

Erik and Lyle Menendez were sentenced to life in prison after shooting their parents Jose and Kitty to death with shotguns in their Beverly Hills home in 1989. However, according to the reality icon, the two perpetrators were treated unfairly during their court trials at the time. Among other things, the press was quick to condemn the Menendez brothers. In addition, the judge responsible did not admit certain evidence about the alleged abuse by her father. In an open letter posted online, Kim wrote about the case: “The first trial was televised for all to see and Erik and Lyle’s case became entertainment for the entire nation, their suffering and story of abuse featured in skits on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ ridiculed. The media has made the brothers monsters and sensations to watch – two arrogant, rich kids from Beverly Hills who killed their parents out of greed. There was no room for compassion, let alone sympathy. Against this background, Erik and Lyle had no chance of a fair trial. At that time, there were few resources for victims of sexual abuse, especially boys.”

Shortly after the release of the new Netflix documentary ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’, produced by Ryan Murphy, Kim also wants to share her personal experiences with the Menendez brothers. “I spent time with Lyle and Erik,” she continues. “They are not monsters. They are kind, intelligent and honest men.”
