WeFair weekend at the Design Center Linz has started

WeFair weekend at the Design Center Linz has started

LINZ. At 2 p.m. today, October 4th, the gates at the Design Center Linz opened for the 17th WeFair. Until Sunday, October 6th, sustainable alternatives in the areas of fashion, lifestyle and nutrition can be discovered at the visitor fair.

Today, the sustainability trade fair WeFair focuses on the topic of travel – how you can discover the world without destroying it. At the stands, hiking tours, tourism regions and travel providers are presented, while on the trade fair stage positive food for thought, from CO2 compensation to the protection of local natural gems to the reading by Linz author Dominika Meindl from her book “Same City, Different Planet” about the Over-tourism in Hallstatt.

Another focus is on the topic of hemp as a sustainable resource. And Post AG is also represented and is presenting its reusable parcel packaging “Post Loop”. In addition, on Saturday, when the sirens sound due to the civil defense test alarm, the Civil Defense Association will be presenting at the trade fair and will explain, among other things, how to sustainably prepare for a crisis.

Fixed WeFair program items, such as various lectures on the trade fair stage, a raffle, the Volkshilfe repair café and the trade fair restaurant are also waiting for visitors again.

Greenwashing-free zone

WeFair ensures that the products of the various exhibitors are free of greenwashing so that visitors can be inspired without hesitation. “When it comes to greenwashing, there is a lot of creativity in how you can convince people that something is sustainable because consumers don’t always have the time to look closely at the entire product.” That’s why we’re basically looking at it for our visitors In advance, we have developed criteria with our three sponsoring NGOs, Südwind, Klimabündnis and Global 2000, about what sustainability means to us. We then check all of our exhibitors very carefully to see whether they meet these criteria. And if someone doesn’t meet the criteria, then they won’t be with us either. “Today we once again rejected 10 to 15 registrations from exhibitors who act as if they are sustainable, but in reality they are simply not really sustainable,” explains WeFair managing director Wolfgang Pfoser-Almer in the Tips interview.
