Ukraine seizes control of Black Sea oil and gas rigs in blow to Putin | world | News

Ukraine has captured oil platforms in the Black Sea as Kiev’s forces deal another blow to Vladimir Putin’s Russian war machine.

The Ukrainian State Border Service (DPSU) published on Telegram images of the battle over the gas production towers near Snake Island, a Ukrainian territory near the east coast of Romania.

DPSU said: “The special forces of the State Security Service, together with units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, are repelling enemy gas production platforms in the Black Sea.”

“With gigantic efforts, part of these strategically important objects, which play the role of our sea fortresses, were captured and brought under control.

“Their maintenance makes it possible to control a large part of the water surface and strengthen defenses.”

According to the Russian Investigative Committee, employee Andrei Korotkiy was leaving his house when the explosives exploded.

Ukrainian military intelligence posted a video of the attack online and branded Mr. Korotiky a “war criminal” and collaborator.

They claim that Mr. Korotiky informed Russian officials about people with pro-Ukrainian views.

Ukrainian military intelligence said: “The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry reminds people that every war criminal will be fairly punished.”
