Nope: Car skids into streambed in head-on collision on B6 near Ernstbrunn

ERNSTBRUNN (Lower Austria): On Saturday, October 5, 2024, there was a serious traffic accident on federal highway 6 in the Steinbach – Thomasl intersection area in Ernstbrunn. Two cars collided head-on, sending both vehicles off the road. One of the vehicles came to a stop in an adjacent field, the other ended up in a stream with two occupants.

When the Ernstbrunn Volunteer Fire Department arrived, the police were already on site and secured the scene of the accident. Within a few minutes of the alarm being raised, the emergency services from the Ernstbrunn fire department went out to rescue people.

Fortunately, no one was trapped in the vehicles involved in the accident, but two people were still in the vehicle that ended up in the stream. The fire brigade avoided caring for the injured and ensured fire protection.

Shortly afterwards, the first rescue workers and the Christophorus 9 emergency medical helicopter arrived at the scene of the accident. After initial medical care was provided by emergency doctors, the two occupants of the vehicle were freed from the stream using a spineboard. The three people involved in the accident suffered injuries of an unspecified degree and were taken to the Mistelbach State Hospital.

After the police recorded the accident, the Ernstbrunn fire department ordered the vehicles to be rescued. With the help of the swap loader, both vehicles were recovered and parked at the Ernstbrunn construction yard. Vehicle parts were then collected and the roadway cleaned.

The operation was completed after about two and a half hours.
