Goldberg and The Rock are back!

The wrestling empire WWE is back in full swing! In one of the most turbulent show nights in recent league history, both legend Bill Goldberg and megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson celebrated their comeback – and that wasn’t all.

At the major Bad Blood event in Atlanta, the promotion offered its fans one surprise after another and various exciting steps for an obviously hot autumn. (NEWS: All news about WWE)

The focus of the show was a tag team match in which WWE champion Cody Rhodes and his old arch-rival Roman Reigns teamed up against the new Bloodline with leader Solo Sikoa and enforcer Jacob Fatu – the question of whether the fight against the common enemies was enough glue to keep the unlikely alliance together was the guiding principle.

In the end the connection held, Reigns clinched victory with a spear against Sikoa after an old acquaintance returned and the interventions of Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa had countered: Jimmy Uso, from Sikoa to WrestleMania without the official boss Reigns newly formed Bloodline and haven’t been seen since.

After the match, when Reigns had already left the ring, the Bloodline attacked Rhodes again. Encouraged by his nephew Jimmy, the “Original Tribal Chief” rushed back to the ring with him, helped the “American Nightmare” out of trouble and handed him his title belt.

However, the closing points were still to come: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s music played, the megastar entered the entrance ramp and exchanged dirty looks with Rhodes and Reigns as the show ended.

The accelerating events are grist to the mill for two speculations that have been circulating for a long time: On the one hand, a title duel between Rhodes and The Rock (and Reigns?) seems to be on the agenda at the next WrestleMania next spring.

However, the fact that the icon is already back suggests that he will get back in the ring before then – possibly at the next big event Crown Jewel on November 2nd in Saudi Arabia or for another epic match that seems obvious: this The next “War Games Match” between the new and old Bloodline at Survivor Series will take place on November 30th in Vancouver.

The question of what comes next arises not only in relation to The Rock, but also in relation to a rival from old times: Bill Goldberg.

In the same city where the WWE Hall of Famer once took the WCW title from Hulk Hogan, the now 57-year-old appeared again on Saturday at WWE: There was a confrontation with World Champion Gunther from Austria, who was sitting in the audience Goldberg provoked with derogatory comments about him and his son Gage.

The veteran ultimately jumped over the barricade and wanted to get to Gunther. Security intervened, but Gunther’s rival Sami Zayn then used the opportunity to attack. Goldberg watched the brawl from ringside and sent Gunther his well-known threat, “You’re next.”

Since his comeback against Brock Lesnar in 2016, Goldberg has been back in the ring for WWE at irregular intervals until the beginning of 2023 when there was a break with then-acting WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, whom Goldberg accused of breaking his word regarding a planned farewell match. Goldberg was then a free agent for a while, but attempts by competitor AEW to lure him away came to nothing after Goldberg publicly disparaged the competitor’s product – now there has obviously been a rapprochement with WWE again under the new management.

As a result of the big comebacks, the rest of the regular card quickly went under, even the big Hell in a Cell match at the beginning, in which CM Punk finally won the feud against his arch-rival Drew McIntyre, was ultimately overshadowed later events.

In the evening’s other title matches, both WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax (against Bayley) and World Women’s Champion Liv Morgan retained their respective titles.

Morgan competed against former title holder Rhea Ripley – with the additional clause that Morgan’s lover Dominik Mysterio was locked in a cage. As it then turned out, Morgan had another ass up his sleeve: her former tag team partner Raquel Rodriguez returned after a long injury break, attacked Ripley and thus caused the disqualification, which meant that Morgan lost the title according to WWE rules kept.

The feud between the “Terror Twins” (Ripley and Damian Priest) and the Judgment Day group – previously driven forward with Priest’s victory against his former comrade Finn Balor – is still not over.
