Cologne Marathon 2024: The first runners have reached the finish line – Rhineland – News

Restrictions on traffic and the KVB

Most of the closures along the running route are in the city center, in Deutz, Bayenthal, Ehrenfeld, Lindenthal and Sülz. They usually start on Sundays at 6 a.m. and last until 6 p.m. Some routes will be closed from Saturday, and a few will even be closed from Friday afternoon. The Deutzer Bridge will be closed towards the city center and the Severins Bridge towards the city center. All traffic restrictions are displayed on the Cologne Marathon website.

The organizers ask participants and spectators to use public transport. However, there are also some restrictions at the KVB: the light rail lines 1, 7, 9, 16 and some bus lines do not operate as usual.

Highlights for viewers

If you want to watch and cheer, you can do so along the entire route. Rudolfplatz in particular is considered a good place because runners come here several times. There will be a stage at Ottoplatz in Deutz and spectators can also experience music, light shows, samba dancing and fan miles at other locations along the route. The organizers expect a total of around 10,000 spectators on site. The marathon can be followed online via the organizer’s live broadcast.
