Dozens of Chemie Leipzig fans arrested by police: bus instead of stadium!

Dozens of Chemie Leipzig fans arrested by police: bus instead of stadium!

Leipzig – Today’s regional league matchday turned out to be around 80 Chemistry Leipzigfans as an unpleasant surprise – even before kick-off.

A football day to forget: around 80 chemistry fans miss the Leipzig derby.

Already on Sunday morning – and therefore several hours before the start of the city derby – there were clashes between the fan camps of Chemie and Lok Leipzig at the Völkerschlachtdenkmal not far from the Bruno Plache Stadium.

Several chemistry fans are said to have attacked and damaged a vehicle occupied by opposing supporters.

The police, who had been preparing for the risky game for days, reacted immediately and surrounded the around 80 mostly male attackers. Then the personal details of each person were recorded one by one.

But whoever thought they would be able to move on to the stadium unmolested was cut out: the authorities quickly requested an LVB bus for the troublemakers, in which they were taken to the North Police Station premises.

The chemistry fans now have to wait there until 6 p.m. and therefore miss the Leipzig derby. The police will provide them with portable toilets and drinks during their accommodation.
