Gemini Live: Finally a real Google Assistant - this is the new ChatBot format and this is how you can use it

Google is joining in Gemini Live now really pressure. The format, which was originally planned as a paid format, will become very widespread starting this week by opening it up to all Android users and launching in 40 additional languages. Now the new chat format is presented again in detail and the advantages that this conversation brings with it compared to the classic ChatBot are described.

Gemini Live is a tool as Google described many years ago and has already offered in a significantly limited form with the continued conversations with the Google Assistant: The communication between ChatBot and user is no longer based on the constant question-answer exchange, but switches to a conversation mode in which both sides can interrupt each other, talk to each other again and again or even for a long time.

Google describes Gemini Live as “it’s like chatting with another person” and offers the opportunity to do real brainstorming, discover new topics or even prepare and practice important presentations together. Gemini Live listens to conversations, even between several people, you can ask for advice at any time and, if requested, deepen individual topics, work on them for longer or even skip them. The goal is to create a natural conversation in which, ideally, users eventually forget that they are talking to an AI.

In order to create such a conversation harmoniously, it not only requires strong AI with high receptivity, but also a form of personalization. And so you can choose from ten different voices right from the start, which are intended to personalize the experience and perhaps also create a certain form of sympathy. That’s twice as many voices as the Google Assistant in its prime. It now only offers two voices to choose from.

Ask for advice: Use Gemini to advise you on a range of topics, such as potential jobs that are a good match for your skills or degree.
Plan an event: Talk to Gemini about throwing a birthday party for friends and family.
Dive into new topics and expand your horizons: Ask Gemini Live about historical events, scientific concepts, or even the rules of a game like chess or mahjong.
Discover new local topics and ideas: Talk to Gemini about topics specific to your region or interests.

In theory, Gemini Live offers a wide range of possible applications and is of course ideal for use on smart speakers, smart displays or other places in the smart home. However, I imagine the whole thing to be a little more difficult on a smartphone if the device is used for other things at the same time.
