This is how your smartwatch becomes a wallet

From December 2024, paying will be easier for HUAWEI users as the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 series and the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate Green Edition will receive a software update that enables NFC payments. With this update, users can also make contactless payments without using their smartphone or wallet.

The NFC payment function will initially be available for Android smartphones. iOS users will have to wait until the first half of 2025 before they can also benefit from this function. Payments will be made via the app Quicko wallet handled. A simple gesture with the smartwatch is enough to complete contactless purchases, according to HUAWEI.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series and the HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate Green Edition were recently launched at a major event in Barcelona and are already available in stores.
