Gholson Water Supply issues a boil water notice, forcing the school to close

GHOLSON, Texas (KWTX) – Gholson Water Supply has issued a boil water notice effective Monday, October 7, which will be in effect until further notice.

“The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Gholson Water Supply Corporation public water system to require all customers in Gholson and the Gholson area to boil their water before consumption,” the Gholson Water Supply Corporation said in a statement.

To ensure harmful bacteria are eliminated, water should be boiled and cooled before use, the public water authority said. Buying bottled water is also an option in this case, officials say.

Once water is safe to consume, the public water system will lift the boil water warning.

Gholson ISD announced on Facebook that they were closing after Gholson Water Supply said the district would be without water that day.

The district says classes and bus routes will return to their normal schedule on Tuesday, October 8th.

The public water system says customers with questions should call Gholson Water Supply Corporation at (254)-829-2907.
