Two years ago, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed the RTX 4090 – will the successor come to CES 2025?

The RTX 4090 will soon be two years old: the flagship of the Ada Lovelace generation celebrated its debut on October 12, 2022 and has topped every best and price list of GPUs ever since.

Given the usual cycle between generations, Nvidia is gradually looking for a successor: the RTX 5090 has been a regular part of leaks in recent months. The unveiling date in these rumors was either the end of 2024 or CES 2025, which took place from January 7th to 10th, 2025 in Las Vegas (USA).

These leaks are now receiving new fuel with an official announcement.

As the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), in its role as CES organizer, announced in a statement, the technology trade fair will be opened on January 6, 2025 by Nvidia boss Jensen Huang.

He will hold a keynote speech at 6:30 p.m. local time – but the announcement left open what exactly it would be about. As a rule, such Nvidia keynotes are broadcast live from the official YouTube channel; In this country, however, you have to tune in at 3:30 a.m. if you want to be there.

In previous years, Nvidia used CES for other models

In view of the frequent rumors about a release of the RTX 5090 at CES 2025, there is of course hope that the keynote will actually be used to introduce the Blackwell flagship. However, this would represent a departure for Nvidia from previous launches.

In 2024, the Consumer Electronics Show was used to present the middle to upper class models around the RTX 40 Super. The year before, Nvidia brought the RTX 4070 Ti to CES; In 2022 there was only the RTX 3050 to marvel at in the desktop GPU sector.

But what you have to be prepared for at the Nvidia keynote is the topic of artificial intelligence, which is currently extremely important to the GPU manufacturer. At least there has hardly been a keynote or presentation in recent years that has not in some way been about Nvidia’s capabilities in AI applications.

Now we need your opinion: Should Nvidia release new graphics cards before the end of the year or is CES 2025 a suitable time for the RTX 5090? Do you also want the RTX 5080 to be released at the same time? What products are you following at CES 2025? Please let us know in the comments!
