LAKEWOOD, Ohio (WOIO) – 19 News reporter Winnie Dortch was shot and killed early Monday morning in an apparent domestic incident.

Lakewood police said just before 8 a.m. Monday, a person called to report two people arguing in the area of ​​Clifton Boulevard.

When officers arrived, callers reported shots had been fired.

Lakewood police said they arrived on Chase Avenue and found two people shot on the sidewalk, a man and a woman.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his identity was not released.

Winnie Dortch was taken to MetroHealth by Lakewood EMS.

19 News has learned Winnie underwent surgery late Monday morning. Her family told us it went well.

The police recovered a weapon on site.

Police say investigators are continuing to investigate what led to the shooting and what type of relationship existed between them.

Police said they were known to each other.
