Early Samsung Galaxy A16 listing spotted on Samsung Netherlands website

Early Samsung Galaxy A16 listing spotted on Samsung Netherlands website

  • Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A16 is expected to cost $250, a 25 percent increase over its predecessor.

  • The A16 features thinner bezels, a larger screen and six years of operating system updates.

  • Official images show a similar design to the A15, with a minimalist, modern look thanks to slimmer bezels and a thinner overall frame.

The Galaxy S25 series from Samsung is still a few months away. We don’t expect the flagship or Samsung’s variant of Android 15 with One UI 7 until early 2025. In the meantime, the tech giant’s A-series in the low to mid-price segment will get a significant addition with last being the successor to the Galaxy A15 for next year in sight.

The latest leaks about the Galaxy A16 left little to the imagination, although concrete pricing information and official color variants were not yet available. Thanks to an early listing in the Dutch Samsung store, which is still active by the way, we now have confirmation that the device will be available in at least three color variants in addition to the price.

If euro prices are to be converted directly to US dollars, it’s likely that the upcoming A16 5G will cost around $50 more than its predecessor. Listed (but not available for purchase) on Samsung’s Dutch website (via Android Planet) for €229, the device will cost around $250 in the US, a 25 percent cost increase.

Samsung may be justifying the price increase by citing the new A-series device’s unprecedented six-year OS update policy, which is not yet available on lower-end devices. While the Galaxy A15 launched in December, given that the device is already listed on the tech giant’s Dutch website, there will likely be an accelerated launch as early as October.

A stylish upgrade with thinner frames

In official images, the device looks almost identical to its predecessor from the front and back, albeit with an overall thinner frame and noticeably thinner top and side bezels. The frames on the bottom still seem to retain their thickness, with a slight texture on the back. We’re not sure if the texture that falls on the back of the device (as seen in the images above) actually looks like what the back of the upcoming device will look like, or if that’s just a result of the lighting and Photo technology from Samsung is.

With a thinner overall frame of 7.99mm and muted bezels, the device is proven to feature a larger 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with IP54 protection. While the listing doesn’t confirm the SoC, we know from previous leaks that the LTE A16 will run on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor (the same as its predecessor), while the 5G model will run on the Exynos 1330 previously found in Samsung Galaxy seen was M14.

Other specifications confirmed in the listing include a 5,000mAh battery with a 50MP, 5MP and 2MP rear camera, a 13MP front shooter, 4GB/128GB RAM and storage. The Samsung listing is still available at the time of writing.
