Users are amazed at the prophetic properties of the Apple Watch

My colleague Wegmann noticed it at the end of September during an illness, and I noticed it two weeks earlier when I had a cold: the new “Vital Signs” app on the Apple Watch sounds the alarm, sometimes a few days before the wearer falls into bed with symptoms.

Now users on Reddit are reporting the same experiences: The vital signs app warns two to three days in advance that something unusual is going on in the owner’s body. A Reddit user claimed that his vital signs app knew about his cold much earlier than he was aware of it.

Other Reddit participants also confirmed his impressions: For one person, the vital signs app was helpful twice when he got sick in the summer. The other showed the evaluations from his vital signs app when he was healthy, had to fight a mild corona infection and a few days ago had to deal with the “worst illness of my adult life”. In all three cases, the app displayed corresponding blue-purple bars quite accurately.

Users on Twitter also report a temporal connection between the message in the vital signs app and an illness some time later.

The Vital Signs app is one of the new apps under watchOS 11. It presents a summary of the most important vital signs such as breathing and heart rate rates, sleep duration, temperature (on the wrist) and blood oxygen saturation in a clear diagram.

Please note: Apple Watch measures these vital signs while you sleep because values such as heart rate are most consistent during sleep. For an initial notification outside the average range, the Apple Watch must be worn on the wrist for at least seven nights – to determine the average. To do this, you need to activate the “Sleep” focus and sleep monitoring.

The vital signs app is available on all Apple Watches that are compatible with watchOS 11, including the Apple Watch Series 6 and higher. You will receive most of the data from the Apple Watch Series 8 onwards, as it also measures the temperature on the wrist.
