DAX-FLASH: Weaker start expected – 19,000 points wobble again From dpa-AFX

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – A weak US stock market the evening before and sometimes heavy losses in Asia in the morning are likely to initially push the index back below 19,000 points on Tuesday. The broker IG estimated the German leading index 0.8 percent lower to 18,956 points just two hours before the Xetra launch.

China’s mainland stock exchanges are returning from the holiday break with visually clear gains. Stock marketers were still not satisfied with the catch-up rally, as demand ebbed almost as soon as trading started.

Stephen Innes from SPI Asset Management spoke of a “U-turn in the dragon boat race” after the hoped-for further economic stimulus from the government failed to materialize. At best, a current statement pays lip service to economic growth.

The Hong Kong Hang Seng, which was recently not on holiday break, temporarily fell by 10 percent but was recently able to reduce its losses somewhat. Things are also going downhill in Tokyo.
