Table tennis star Dimitrij Ovtcharov invests in real estate as an investment and retirement provision.

The 36-year-old owns several apartments, all of which are rented, and a house that he lives in with his family.

The European champion can imagine going deeper into the real estate industry after his sports career.

He’s wearing gym clothes as he collapses onto the chair, which is far too small. Dimitrij Ovtcharov has just come from training and has retreated to his daughter’s bedroom to talk to Business Insider. As he sits at his desk, the colorful butterflies glitter on the wall in the background.

It’s only a short moment, but it’s an example of how grounded the 36-year-old is – and how happy he is to be home. Because: Dimitrij Ovtcharov is a table tennis star. He was once world number 1, European champion, World Cup winner and won six medals at the Olympic Games, including the silver medal in Japan in 2021.

The sport demands a lot, especially a lot of time. There are only a few days off – especially during the season. His everyday life is well planned – neither table tennis nor his family are neglected.
