All about the Kärntner Petzen on ORF 3 a.m. October 10, 2024

The impressive Petzen shapes its surroundings in southern Carinthia. This natural paradise is home to the Kordeschkopf, the easternmost 2,000-meter peak in the Karawanken. In addition to rich musicality, colorful customs and imaginative agriculture characterize rural life in the region. Michael Drugowitsch is chairman of the Petzen cultural association, which has set itself the goal of at least partially rebuilding the venerable Bleiburger Hütte, which burned down decades ago, at great expense. Klaus Tchaitschmann runs an arable farm with his parents and wife Carina. Because, for him, livestock breeding is always part of an intact circular economy, he has also been farming pigs for years. In her “Old Customs Hut”, which was originally accommodation for customs officers who did their duty in the Petzen area, on the border with Slovenia, she cooks for her guests at any time of the year.
