Eintracht before extension with shooting star

Kaua Santos is currently filling in for the injured Kevin Trapp and is doing so spectacularly. But this applies to both his saves and his mistakes. The 21-year-old played against Pilsen and Besiktas in the Europa League, but also showed outstanding performances in both games. His performance in the 3-3 draw against Bayern was extremely strong, after which Thomas Müller also spoke of an outstanding goalkeeping performance. It is clear that the Brazilian may have attracted the attention of some clubs with his very eye-catching performances.

Eintracht Frankfurt seems to want to forestall possible attempts at poaching. According to information from Luca Bendoni (who is part of transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio’s team), the Hessians are in advanced talks with Kaua Santos. The young goalkeeper is expected to extend his contract, which runs until 2028, until 2030. The point is that his salary will also be increased at the same time. Frankfurt signed Santos from Flamengo in 2023 and promoted him to number two in the summer. Given Trapp’s injury, he is now in the spotlight earlier than planned.

Even though Kaua Santos has already contributed one or two last goals, his incredible potential became clear in the games. The 21-year-old is 1.96 meters tall, has great athleticism and quick reflexes. The Brazilian seems to have everything he needs to have a great career. After all, his previous mistakes are solely due to his lack of experience.

However, the shooting star will probably have to give up his place between the posts again after the international break. “We have a very clear number one, our captain. We are super happy that he is back and in team training. He will now have another two good weeks of training and then be in goal against Leverkusen. We are very happy about that,” explained sports director Timmo Hardung to the Picture.

Dino Toppmöller had previously indicated that Trapp would return to goal if he was fit enough. Even if people don’t want to start a discussion in Frankfurt, sooner or later there will be a replacement. Trapp, who is 13 years older, has a contract until 2026, but could find it difficult to remain number one until then. At least he will have to perform better than in parts of the previous season.
