Download MediaCreationTool (MCT) Windows 11 24H2 (currently 26100.2033) and save it to the stick

(Update September 10, 2024): Microsoft has updated the files that the MediaCreationTool (MCT) downloads. Windows 11 26100.2033 will now be downloaded. Also as of Patchday October 2024. We have already adjusted the links for the ESDs.

(Original October 1, 2024): Microsoft has now released the MediaCreationTool (MCT) for Windows 11 24H2. This means that you can no longer download a previous version with the tool. Windows 11 24H2 26100.1742 as of September 2024 is currently being downloaded via the MCT.

With the MCT you can then copy Windows 11 24H2 to an 8 GB stick. This means you always have an option not only to reinstall Windows 11, but also to access the advanced startup options if you need to repair Windows.

Universal MediaCreationTool for Windows 11 and older Windows 10 versions

Many of you are probably familiar with the Universal MediaCreationTool or MediaCreationTool.bat from AveYo. With this tool you can choose which Windows 11 or Windows 10 ISO to download. When the script is started, you can make your selection and the original MediaCreationTool then starts the process. The advantage of the Universal MediaCreationTool for Windows 11 is that the hardware block is ignored here too.

Windows 11 24H2 installation wizard

If you want to update to the new Windows 11 24H2 straight away, you can also use the installation wizard. This then starts an inplace upgrade from the current Windows 10 or 11 version to 24H2. But having a stick with Windows 11 24H2 in your drawer is a little more reassuring. This also saves you having to create a recovery drive.
